Karly Heath is a softball player who is making waves in the collegiate softball world and plays for the Louisiana Regin Cajuns. She has been named the Augusta Chronicle and Aiken Standard Softball Player of the Year four years in a row, as well as the Augusta Sports Council Player of the Year. Early life
Karly Heath was born on June 22, 2000, in Augusta, Georgia. Her parents are Chris and Beth Heath. Caroline is her only sibling. Her other high school interests included the teacher candidate, the buddy club, and the Spanish club. She organized a fundraiser for the nearby Ronald McDonald House. Her interests include hunting, fishing, and visiting lakes and beaches. She studies sports management. Her goal is to become a manager of a sports team.
Karly Heath career
During her high school career, she was named All-Region Player of the Year five times, All-State Player of the Year three times, Region Player of the Year three times, Statewide Player of the Year three times, and Class 4A once. Named Player of the Year. As a senior at North Augusta, she hit .517 with 11 homers and 145 strikeouts and amassed a 14-1 record. Won a PGF national title in 2018 while playing at club level for Georgia Impact-Lewis.
She visited South Carolina before moving to Louisiana, where she played for the Gamecocks in 2019 and 2020. As a freshman, she appeared in 44 games (21 starts) as an outfielder, hitting .315 with five homers and 16 RBI. She played in 15 games, made 11 starts, and had a perfect 8-0 record with a 2.48 ERA, limited her opponents to a .179 batting average, and allowed just nine extra base hits in 48 innings.
Louisiana
She made her pro debut with Louisiana in her sophomore year and immediately showed her ability to hit extra base (and power) by producing 14 of them (6 doubles, 8 home runs). More than half of their hits of the season (27) came from extra-base hits. She appeared in 44 games (34 as a starter), starting 11 in right field and 17 as a designated player.
Karly Heath continued to be an effective pitcher at the collegiate level, putting up 19-2/3 innings of work in 15 pitches (two starts). She was second on the team with eight homers and had the third-highest slugging percentage (.588) among everyday players who finished the season.
Karly was Louisiana’s leading home run hitter in 2022, hitting 13 hits in under 100 at-bats. In her freshman season, she hit double-digit home runs, the most by any player in the Gerry Glasco era. She led the Sun Belt in home runs (9), slugging percentage (.941), and OPS (1,427), and she ranked third on the team with a career-high 38 RBI in just 138 plate appearances.
