Anna Uzele was born on November 7, 1995, in Wilmington, Delaware. She comes from a multicultural background as her mother Christine is of Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and German descent and her father Jalum is a pastor of Congolese origin who was born in Sudan and raised in Kenya. Anna has two younger siblings, Sarah and Moses.
Homeschooled by her mother during her elementary school years, Anna then attended the Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Wilmington, where she discovered her passion for acting. In 2017, she graduated from Texas State University with a BFA in Musical Theater.

Anna made her Broadway debut in 2017 as Andrea and as an understudy for Ti Moune in Once On This Island, a musical based on a Caribbean folk tale. Her outstanding ensemble performance led to her nomination for the Drama Desk Award. In 2019, she landed the role of Catherine Parr in the North American tour of Six, a musical that originated in London and became a sensation.
She continued to play the role in the Broadway production, which opened in March 2020 but had to close due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, the cast recorded an album that was nominated for Best Musical Theater Album at the Grammy Awards.
Anna Uzele has also appeared on television, most notably on the Showtime series City on a Hill, where she had a recurring role as Tasha Hays, a young activist who becomes involved with a corrupt FBI agent.
