After that successful season, he earned recognition as the league’s All-Star during a game against the Orleans Firebirds in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Throughout his college years, Brandon remained an integral part of his team, participating in numerous games.
In his junior year of 2017, he reached a 2-6 record with a 5.55 ERA and decided to pursue a professional baseball career. As a result, the Houston Astros selected him in the 11th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
Brandon began his professional career with the Gulf Coast League Astros, but his early performances were not particularly outstanding. But he soon showed success and after two goalless appearances managed to gain promotion to the Tri-City ValleyCats. With the ValleyCats, he recorded a 1-1 record in eight games this season and an impressive .92 ERA.
In 2018, Brandon joined the Buies Creek Astros and started the season with them. His exceptional performance earned him a Carolina League All-Star title. In June of that year, he was promoted again, this time to the Corpus Christi Hooks. He continued to impress and advanced further to Round Rock Express in May 2019.
MLB
After years of dedication and hard work, Brandon finally made his MLB debut in 2020 against the Seattle Mariners. Though he only made five appearances in 2022, the majority of those were with the Triple-A Sugar Land Space Cowboys, a testament to his tenacity and determination.
As the 2023 season begins with the Houston Astros, Brandon has already achieved notable milestones. In May, he secured his first win of the season by scoring nine strikeouts against the Oakland Athletics, the best of his career, demonstrating his development and talent as a pitcher.
