The details of his parents and siblings are not known, but he is the grandson of film director, actor and theater director Friedrich Schutter. David Schutter was enthusiastic about acting from an early age and so he enrolled at the Schule für Schauspiel Hamburg in 2009 and graduated in 2012. In 2010 he starred in Kalle and the TV series Stubbe – Von Fall zu Cae in 2011. Shortly after graduating he had a supporting role in the series Coast Guard.
