Doug Emhoff is an American lawyer who is the “Second Gentlemen of the United States”. His wife, Kamala Harris, is the 49th Vice President of the United States. He is also the Vice President’s first-ever Jewish spouse. On his Twitter account, he has more than 1M followers.
Early life
Douglas was born on October 13, 1964, in New York City, United States of America. His parents are Jewish and are named Barbara and Michael Emhoff. He has a brother named Andy and a sister named Jamie. Doug spent 12 years of his life growing up in Matawan and Old Bridge Township, New Jersey. He attended Cedar Ridge High School in New Jersey and moved to California with his family at the age of 17. Doug Emhoff completed his high school diploma at Agoura High School. He went to California State for his graduate and postgraduate studies and earned a Bachelor in Arts degree. In 1990 he also entered the USC Gould School of Law and earned a Juris Doctor degree, also known as a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.

Douglas began his career as an entertainment litigator with the Pillsbury Winthrop Litigation Group. After a few years, he also worked with Belin Rawlings & Badal, a boutique firm. In 2000, he and Ben Whitwell, an experienced litigator, opened their own practice, which was later acquired by Venable LLP in 2006. His clients included companies such as Walmart and Merck, and he later became Managing Director of Venable’s West Coast office. In 2017, he worked as a partner in Washington DC and California offices at DLA Piper, an MNC law firm.
In 2020, he left DLA Piper as his wife was running for president in the 2020 United States election. Therefore, his work may create a conflict of interest. Since his wife won the 2020 United States presidential election, he plans to focus on bringing justice and becoming a legal representative. He also decided to join Georgetown University Law Center as a Distinguished Visitor. Doug is currently supporting his wife who is now Vice President of the United States. He would work as her litigator and also ensure that quality and justice are offered to the company. He also served as a visiting professor at the Georgetown University Law Center in the Department of Technology Law and Policy.
