Lindsay Lopez is a Poston Butte High School junior softball pitcher who has performed exceptionally well for the Washington Huskies in the NCAA. She was named to the All-Region First Team four times and was named 2018 Region Offensive Player of the Year and 2016 Region Player of the Year.
Early life
Lindsay Lopez was born on April 12, 2001, to Hirineo (Eddie) and Liisa. Her father was a student-athlete at Brigham Young University. She is considering a degree in Dietetics, Health, and Food Systems. During their four years at Poston Butte High School, the team made their first four trips to the AIA State Playoffs.
Not only was she Rookie of the Year in her freshman season, but she was also named the team’s MVP in 2017 and 2018. The Casa Grande Dispatch named her the top player in Pinal County for 2018 and she won the PinalCentral Player of the Year award. Titles with a .513 batting average, a .595 base percentage, and a .883 slugging percentage throughout her career.

Lopez, a two-sport star at Poston Butte High School, was a four-year starter and a three-time All-Conference first-team pick who also received 4A and 5A division honors when her school was a division rise. Lindsay made an impression early in high school, hitting a .520 with seven homers and 54 RBIs in 32 games and a total of 153 runs.
She had a fantastic pitching career, going 51-19 with a 1.07 ERA, batting 711 batters in 452.2 innings, and having one of her best seasons as a senior, batting 223 batters and setting opponents at a .162 batting average limited. As a junior, she was dominant, hitting 194 hitters in 127.2 innings while completing just nine walks. She chose ASU because she wanted to be challenged and compete for conference and national titles. ASU was their first pick between New Mexico State, Pacific, and BYU.
Rise to Fame
Lindsay appeared in nine games during the shortened season, including two starts on the mound. She made her pitching debut on Feb. 8 against Western Michigan and went on to record the Pacific-12 Conference’s best earned run average (ERA) among starters by a wide margin. On March 1, she made history when she hit her first collegiate home run, a solo shot, against Maryland. As a sophomore, she led the club with a 16-7 record, 96 strikeouts, and a 2.88 earned run average in 33 games.
In her freshman season, she completed 11 full games, four of them during Pac-12 play, which earned her a spot on the league’s all-freshman team. As a junior in 2022, she was the league’s top pitcher with 112.1 pitched innings, 84 strikeouts, and First Team All-Pac-12 honors.
She was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after beating UCLA with two wins, including a full game crucial to ASU winning the series. Lindsay threw out nine full games and three shutouts for the team. As a junior, she played in 30 games for the Sun Devils, made 16 starts, and was 13-5 with an earned run average of 2.12.
