Rick Riordan is the New York Times bestselling author of his most popular and widely read book entitled the Percy Jackson & Olympians series. He has written over twenty novels for young readers. In addition to achieving success for his book as part of a bestseller, Rick has received respect as the book has been translated into 42 languages and the book has sold more than 30 million copies in the US alone.

Early life
Rick Riordan, the famous American author was born on June 5, 1964, in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Alamo Heights High School where he graduated and first, he wanted to be a guitarist so attended the music program at North Texas State University.
For higher education purposes, Rick attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his education with majors in English and history. It is said that Rick’s parents divorced back in 1970 and Rick was mainly raised by his mother. However, he still describes his deep respect and concern for his father, whom he always looked up to as a role model, and admits in one of his interviews that he learned most from his father and grew up watching him.

After completing his college education at the accredited university in 1986, Rick pursued a teaching career. For almost 15 years he taught English, History, and Greek Mythology in various middle schools. He has worked at various schools in the San Francisco Bay Area and in San Antonio. Not only that but for his respect and dynamic teaching methods, he was awarded the inaugural Master Teacher Award from St Mary’s Hall.
After his teaching career, Rick considered pursuing his writing, which he always pursued as a side hustle during that time, but he loved writing at school from an early age. After leaving school and job behind and seeking inspiration to write a few books, he began writing the first notable book, which was a mystery series centered around private detective Jackson (“Tres”) Navarre. According to the sources, Rick Riordan got married back in 1985 at the age of 21 (as of 1964), on the day the couple celebrated their birthday together. The two have been married for years and together they have two children – Haley and Patrick. Haley was born in 1994 and Patrick was born in 1998. As of June 2013, the family resides in Boston with their conjugation with their older son Haley just starting college in Boston.
