Roger Federer is a Swiss tennis pro and one of the most famous tennis players in the world. He is currently ranked 17th in the world and holds a total of 20 Grand Slams singles titles. Early life
Roger was born on August 8, 1981 in Basel, Switzerland to his father Robert Federer and mother Lynette Federer. He is from a mixed ethnic background as his father is half Swiss and half German while his mother is African. He holds dual citizenship in South Africa and Switzerland.
Federer grew up near the German-French border and speaks five languages. In addition, it is known that he grew up as a vegetarian until he was 14 years old. Roger has not revealed any information about his school or college, but it is believed he completed his schooling at a local school in Basel. He was already active in sports during his school days.

Roger started playing tennis as a teenager aged 14 and competed in several junior tournaments. In 1996 he played his first junior match in a Class 2 tournament. As a junior he won Wimbledon in 1998 and also reached the final of the US Open Junior in the same year. Roger ended the year No. 1 in the rankings.
He soon turned professional and made his debut at the Swiss Open Gstaad in 1998 and the Marseille Open in late 1999, securing a place in the top 100. Later, in 2003, he won his first ever Grand Slam title against Mark Philippoussis at Wimbledon. The following year he recorded 3 Grand Slam titles and also became world No. 1.

He has won a total of 20 Grand Slams in his career so far, including 8 Wimbledon wins, 6 Australian Open titles, 5 US Open titles and one French Open title. He also represented his country Switzerland at the Olympic Games. He won gold in doubles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and silver in singles at the 2012 London Olympics.
He has also won the Hopman Cup three times in his career in 2011, 2018 and 2019. Overall, he has over 103 career titles. Most recently, he reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 2020, but was unable to secure the title due to an injury to his right knee.
He underwent arthroscopic surgery and was also forced to retire from Dubai, French, Miami and Indian Wells. In 2021 he was unable to take part in the Australian Open due to his injury and also due to Covid restrictions. He returned to the ATP Tour and also played Geneva Open. However, he had to undergo surgery again due to the promotion of his injury. Two of his biggest rivals on the court are Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic but he shares a warm relationship with everyone and also wished Rafael Nadal all the best for winning the Australian Open 2022.

Roger is currently married to Miroslava Federer, a former Women’s Tennis Association player. The two met in 200 while competing in the Sydney 200 Olympic Games.
