Alvin Kamara is an American football running back who plays for the New Orleans Saints of the NFL. He played college football at the University of Alabama before being transferred to the University of Tennessee. He was later drafted by the Saints in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was honored with the 2017 NFL Rookie of the Year and has remained the Pro Bowler in all four seasons of the NFL. He was also honored with the second place All-Pro Team twice. In 2020, Kamara became the second player in NFL history to hit six rushing touchdowns in a single game.
Early life
Alvin Kamara was born on July 25, 1995 to a Liberian mother. Alvin spent his childhood in Norcross, Georgia. He is one of the two children of his mother Adama Kamara. Adama belongs to Liberia, but had to flee her homeland because of the Librarian War. On the other hand, Alvin’s father has been absent since Alvin was a child. It was pretty hard for the whole family to cope with their financial crisis and to take care of the daily necessities or to survive alone in the USA.
Although Alvin’s sister was always by his side. She was the one who knew his next move before he decided to work on something. He was well supported by his mother and sister, whose name is Garmai K. She was his best friend since he was young. Both of them helped him to realize his dream and to work for it.
Alvin Kamara’s career
Alvin attended Norcross High School and then played high school football for the team called the Blue Devils. He performed while he was on the team and ran for 1,300 yards with 17 touchdowns as a junior in 2011. In 2012, as a senior, he rushed for 2,264 yards for 26 touchdowns, which led to the high school being nominated for the inaugural state championship. He was honored with Georgia’s Mr. Football by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
In addition, he was nominated to compete in the 2013 Under Armor All-America Game. While passing his high school, he was considered to be one of the best running backs going after clients across the nation. He was honored for being ranked #1 in all-purpose on 247Composite, #42 nationally in 2012, and #5 in Georgia.
He was also nominated #6 in Georgia by Rivals.com. When he was in high school, he received a scholarship offer from Syracuse University. As a senior, he signed on to play under Nick Saban’s head coach for the University of Alabama. Kamara received the highest Wonderlic Test score from running backs while part of the NFL Combine.
He also competed in Pro Day in Tennessee but later chose to only be on position routes. He was drafted by the pundits and analysts, who all second-round forecast him and ranked him the fourth best running back and fifth or seventh best running back by various outlets including Sports Illustrated, ESPN, NFL analyst Mike Mayock. Personal life
Alvin dates Te’a Cooper because they often spent time together. Te’a is the ex-wife of Dwight Howard and they separated after she accused Dwight of cheating on her. Although he was rumored to be dating a girl he met at a strip club in 2017, their relationship was short-lived when the two broke up. Alvin has been in trouble many times. He was once arrested for his possession of BB guns and damaging Alabama’s machinery building. He paid the $3000 bill later paid by the University of Tennessee.
