Ben Chan Jeopardy Journey
Ben Chan, the latest Jeopardy champion, was set to provide gossip for fans on the Jeopardy stage (on the very first day). He said he once went head-to-head with Aaron Rodgers (the Green Bay Packers quarterback) while playing a game of pub trivia. Another connection between Ben Chan and Aaron is that they both had a relationship in Wisconsin, which was revealed Wednesday.
After sharing the story of his life, the one-day champion said: “I’m pleased to say I beat Aaron Rodgers at Pub Trivia.” Ben took on Kat Jepson, a Virginia Beach artist who was already a daily champion with $20,399 in earnings. The other participant was Laura Caton, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit arts administrator.
Previously, Kat Jepson was the leading figure with a one-day championship, winning nearly $20,399. Before the first commercial break, Ben won $5,600, trailing the others by $1,000 and $800 respectively. Ben later wagered $7,000, which also stunned Ken Jennings (the recent host and 74-game Jeopardy winner).
When Ken saw Ben bet almost $7,000 for the next round, he was amazed and said, “That’s a lot of money.” In the end, Ben got 19 correct answers in the first round alone, but had to come back from the big crowd, which was statically impressive. The end results were $2,400 for round 1 and $17,000 for round two. He will now appear for Thursday’s (April 13) Jeopardy game with his one-day scoring money of $16,001.
