Buck Mcneely was born in 1960 in Cape Girardeau, MO, and learned to travel to different places from a young age. His father was in the United States Air Force, and the entire McNeely family was based in Texas and traveled to places like Washington, D.C., California, and the Philippines – by the time he started 1st grade.
This change brought with it a curiosity to learn different things and a passion for Buck McNeely. He began enjoying the outdoors, hunting, and fishing in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the San Joaquin Valley of California. Buck attended high school in Hughson, California, where he also learned football, wrestling, and track skating. He also passed the FCC license exam in his sophomore year. Buck is the producer and host of 18 episodes of a college dating game called Dream Date. In his senior year of college, he began working and developing content for the series The Outdoorsman. He was a senior in college and began work on The Outdoorsman project to be broadcast on local cable and other channels that access it as a college project.
After receiving positive thoughts on his particular production, he began launching his production commercially in the summer of 1985, starting first with FOX Affiliate. In 1987, The Outdoorsman with Buck McNeely made its national debut on the Tempo Network.
After that, the series was released on international channels, including ESPN, Family Channel, USA Network, Fox Sports, The Outdoor Channel, and others. Today the series is known as the Nation’s Largest Syndicated Outdoor Adventure Series.
