Livingston, who was born and raised on October 15, 2003, in Akron, Ohio, has a twin brother named Cordell. Cordell was his high school basketball teammate at Oak Hill Academy, Buchtel, and Western Reserve Academy. Julia Livingston is his mother and works as a doctor of pharmacy in Akron. He has five siblings including Cordell, Cydnee, Corey, Courtney, and CJ with Cordell being his twin brother. He started playing competitive basketball at the age of five.

He began playing competitive basketball at the age of five. During his freshman year, he played for the Buchtel Community Learning Center in Akron, averaging 24.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. Livingston led his team to the state finals for the first time since 1997 and set a school record for a top freshman.

In his sophomore season, he transferred to Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio. In the season finale, he scored 50 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, made eight steals, and blocked five shots in a 76-65 win over Bristol High School. He received MaxPreps Sophomore All-American First Team Honors and averaged 32.5 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.9 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game as a sophomore. In the 2020-2021 season, Livingston switched back to Buchtel and played his junior year.
National team
At the 2019 FIBA U16 Americas Championship in Belém, Brazil, Livingston led the U.S. team to the gold medal by recording 23 points, six rebounds, and two assists in a 94-77 win over Canada in the finals. He received the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award and was selected for the All-Tournament Team.
