David Lipsky was born on July 14, 1988, in Los Angeles to Korean parents Aaron Lipsky and Yon Suk Lipsky. At the age of 10, his parents taught him the basics of the game. Lipsky attended La Canada High School, where he had a 4.0 GPA, and won the 2003 Ashworth Postseason at Mission Hills.
