Early life
Hunter Allen Ensley was born on August 9, 2001, in Alaska. He is the son of Marty and Alice Ensley and has an older brother, Carson. He is currently pursuing a degree in sports and leisure administration. Ensley was also a fantastic Huntingdon High School football player, helping the team to back-to-back state championships (2018 and 2019).
As a senior in 2019, he helped lead the Mustangs to a 13-1 record and appearance in the Class A state playoffs and he was a finalist for Tennessee Class A Mr. Football. He was the first athlete in Huntingdon High history to make finals for both Mr. Football and Mr. Baseball.

He received a medical redshirt that year and the following year made his college debut as a ninth-inning pinch hitter in a game against Charlotte. In 2022, he made his first collegiate double in a win over Iona and made his season debut with a hit in a win over Georgia Southern, both as pinch hitters.
In 2023, he hit a game-winning double to right center early in the 14th inning against #4 Clemson, scoring Maui Ahuna from the front row and giving Tennessee a 6-5 lead that lasted for the rest of the game. He also had four hits, including three RBI singles, in Tennessee’s inaugural win over #9 South Carolina, the highest of his career.
In the series finals against #15 Kentucky, he took a 2-on-4 lead with a double and a walk and scored a run with the double. He set a career-high with two stolen bases and drew two walks in a win over Austin Peay; In a win over Georgia on Saturday, he set a career-high with a total of five base touches (three hits from pitches, one walk, one hit, and two runs scored).
Rise to Fame
He drove in two runs and scored two goals in three at-bats against Wofford and had at least one hit and one run in each of Mississippi State’s three losses to end the series. In the final game of the series against No. 2 Vanderbilt, he hit two homers and had three runs from three hits.
He hit a three-run home run and hit four runs, a career-best, in a weekday against Tennessee Tech, and then accumulated a hit, a walk, and a run in the series finals against fifth-seeded Arkansas.
In the last game of the series against LSU, he had 3-of-5 with a walk, three runs scored and two RBIs, all personal bests. After he on 26.03. After winning the first multi-hit game of his career for the Vols with a walk and a run against No. 12 Texas A&M 2-2, he had a hit in all three games as UT won the series.
He went on to beat Gonzaga 1-1 off the bench with a hit, a run, and a walk to set his career high. He hit the first home run of his career with a midweek win over Lipscomb and also had a career-high with two RBIs. Hunter started and had a hit, a run, and a walk-in in three at-bats against Dayton, then stole two bases in a win over Charleston Southern for the first multi-steal game of his career.
