Hurston Waldrep is a Florida Gators College baseball pitcher. He attended Thomasville High School in Thomasville, Georgia, where he pitched for the baseball team and made punts and kicks for the football team. Hurston Waldrep was named an all-state in both sports. He went undrafted in Major League Baseball’s 2020 shortened draft and enrolled at the University of Southern Mississippi to play college baseball.

Hurston Wayne Waldrep was born on March 1, 2002. He is the son of Cliff and Debbie Waldrep and has a brother named Ryan and two sisters named Morgan and Edon. He is currently pursuing a degree in education at the University of Florida.
Hurston Waldrep career
Hurston Waldrep threw 16+13 innings in relief as a freshman at Southern Mississippi in 2021 and went 1-0 up with a 3.31 ERA and 16 strikeouts. He was named the Southern Mississippi Sunday starter for the 2022 season and the Southern Mississippi Sunday starter in 2022. He finished the game 6-2 with a 3.20 ERA, 140 strikeouts, and 33 walks in ninety innings over 17 starts.
Hurston entered the transfer portal post-season, eventually transferring his major to the University of Florida. That summer he was a member of the United States baseball collegiate team. He started the 2023 season as one of the top picks in the next MLB draft.
Hurston is a four-year letter winner in baseball for head coach Greg Crager, and Perfect Game named him the 14th-best right-handed pitcher (high school baseball) in Georgia in 2020. He was named Region 1-AA Pitcher of the Year Region 1-AA First Team and Class AA All-State by Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine.
Rise to Fame
Waldrep represented Team Georgia at the famous Junior Sunbelt Classic in the summer of 2019 and has three Region 1 AA titles (2017, 2018, and 2019). He helped Thomasville to a 23-9 record in 2019 and to the quarterfinals of the 2017 and 2018 state tournaments. He was also a star of Thomasville football and received multiple awards as a kicker/punter.
Before Florida, he played for Southern Miss for two seasons from 2021–22. In 28 appearances over 106 1/3 innings, he had a 7-2 record, a 3.22 ERA and 156 strikeouts. Last season he had a 3.20 ERA, a 213 BAA, and 140 strikeouts in 90 innings for a 14.0 K/9 score. He officiated two full games and one shutout in 2022 and helped Southern Miss earn a berth in the NCAA Super Regional.
