Jim Harbaugh, whose full name is James Joseph Harbaugh, is an American-based football coach and former quarterback who formerly coached the Michigan Wolverines football team. He played college football in Michigan. During his time as quarterback, he played nearly 14 seasons from 1987 to 2000.
Harbaugh was also involved in charitable causes in Piura, Peru. He also appeared on the 1996 TV reality show Saved by the Bell, where he served himself as the character Screech’s cousin. In 1994, he appeared as a cowboy in the western/sci-fi film The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
Early life
Jim Harbaugh was born on December 23, 1963, and grew up in Toledo, Ohio. His father’s name was Jack Harbaugh. His mother called Jacqueline M. “Jackie, who was half Sicilian and half Polish. From childhood, Harbaugh worked alongside his father and supported others in the coaching position.
His father was a football coach and the family used to live in Ohio. After that, they were moved from one place to another and Jim Harbaugh lived with his family in Kentucky, Iowa, Michigan, and California. He went to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Palo Alto, California to continue his studies. While Jim Harbaugh was studying at his high school, his father was an assistant coach at Michigan and Stanford respectively. After graduating, Harbaugh returned to Ann Arbor and enrolled at the University of Michigan. He then played quarterback for the Wolverines beginning the three seasons. Later in his fifth year as a senior in 1968, he led his team to becoming a Heisman Trophy finalist while reaching the third level.

College career
In February 1982, Harbaugh was playing football for the Michigan Wolverines football team. Harbaugh completed 25 of 39 passes while rushing for 272 yards. On October 6, 1984, he lost the game in game five to Michigan State. Harbaugh badly fractured his left arm while loosely diving the ball and colliding with Spartan linebacker Thomas Tyree. Back then, Harbaugh had to be carried off the field on a stretcher, which meant he missed the dropped seasons. Harbaugh completed 60 of 111 passes while rushing for 718 yards, three touchdowns and five interceptions while playing for the 1984 season. By April 1985, his arm was somehow healing and he was showing his presence throughout the seasons, completing 10 of 16 passes and rushing for 146 yards in the annual spring game.
coaching career
While still playing for the NFL, Harbaugh was called to Western Kentucky University as an unpaid assistant coach, where his father, Jack, was a former head coach. He made his comeback to the NFL as a quarterback coach in 2002 and returned to the collegiate ranks in 2004 as a head coach at the University of San Diego. After starring in back-to-back Pioneer League championships in 2005 and 2006, he moved to Stanford in 2007, where he approached the Cardinal on two bowl beds in the four seasons he made, one of his winning seasons with Orange Bowl was in 2011.
On December 30, 2014, Harbaugh was introduced as the new head football coach at the University of Michigan. On November 14, he hosted Wisconsin, where Michigan suffered its largest halftime deficit at home. Then, on November 28, 2020, Michigan hosted Penn State and, for the first time, lost the game to another team 0-5 or worse. This was the first time Michigan did not win a game at home. On January 8, 2021, Harbaugh was signed by Michigan with a four-year contract extension from 2021 to 2025.

Harbaugh comes from a coaching family background. He is the son of a college football coach named Jack Harbaugh and has seven children. From his first marriage to Miah Harbaugh (continued from 1996 to 2006), he has sons named Jay, and James and a daughter named Grace. From his second marriage to Sarah Feuerborn Harbaugh (2008), he has two daughters named Addison and Katherine and two sons named Jack and John. He was once arrested for drunk driving (DUI) in Encinitas, California. Jim Harbaugh initially pleaded not guilty, but later joined the plea deal.
