Jocelyn Alo is an American varsity softball player for the Oklahoma Sooners and handler from Hauula, Hawaii. Her full name is Jocelyn Aloha Pumehana Alo. Jocelyn was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year and selected as a 2018 First-Team All-American freshman. She is currently one of the top female softball players in the college softball scene, along with Montana Fouts.
Early life
She was born on September 23, 2000 in Hauula, Hawaii to Levi and Andrea Alo. This number one softball player in the US has three sisters named Sabrina, Lorraine and Sophia. And while she was at Laney College, her father played soccer and her mother played softball.
She grew up about 30 miles north of the Hawaii campus in the small village of Hauula, and about two dozen family members were part of the packed crowd that was on hand to watch her set the record.
Alo was named to the 2018 NFCA All-American 1st team and 2nd team in 2019. She was also twice named Gatorade State High School’s Player of the Year. Her parents are native Hawaiians. She is heavily influenced by them. Jocelyn completed her primary education at a local school. She attended James Campbell High School in ‘Ewa Beach, Hawaii, where she was a two-time Gatorade State High School Player of the Year and led her team to three state championships.

Jocelyn began learning softball when she was four years old when her father Levi started taking her to a park in Hau’ula and letting her hit balls. Once the Alos said that young Jocelyn would hit a thousand strokes every day. Before joining Campbell, Alo attended Kahuku while she was a sophomore winning the state wrestling championship in her weight class.
As an unsung seventh grader, Alo showed up for a softball camp on BYU’s campus, and by the end of camp, the BYU coaches had already offered her a scholarship. She was selected as a freshman in the 2018 All American First-Team NFCA and 2019 in the 2nd team.
In the 2020 season, Alo had her first career batting average at .846 and third in slugging percentage and fifth in home runs. Alo is also a two-time Gatorade State High School Player of the Year. Jocelyn Alo is a gifted softball hitter. Alo currently has 30 homers and 82 RBIs with a .487 batting average.
Alo hit .571 with 12 homers, 27 RBI, and a 1.449 slugging percentage as a senior in high school. At the time of her junior season, hit .612 with eight home runs, 30 RBI and 13 runs scored. And during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Alo started all 24 games for Oklahoma and led the team in total base count (61). Alo hit .427 with 8 HRs and 21 RBIs. And she also went 12 times as a team leader.
