The Tigers defeated the Mets 10-9 on March 13 thanks to a walk-off homer by Thompson late in the 13th inning. In the Florida Series (March 25-27), he hit .417 (5 of 12) with two doubles, four runs and an RBI.
At the Shriners College Classic on March 4 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Thompson hit a walk-off home run to start the end of the 11th inning, giving LSU a win over Oklahoma.
