Katalin Novák is a Hungarian political figure and serves as Hungary’s president (elected in 2022 with two-thirds majority). She is the first woman to become President, as well as the youngest president in the history of Hungary, elected at the age of 44. Novák has devoted more than a decade of her life to politics. She has had a stellar career, starting as foreign minister to family minister, later becoming vice-president of the Fidesz party and finally rising spectacularly with her career to another presidential position.
Early life
Katalin Novák was born on September 6, 1977 in Szeged, Hungary and completed her secondary education in 1996 at Ságvári-Endre High School. She went to the Corvinus University of Budapest, where she studied economics, and later to the University of Szeged, where she received her law degree. She is also a graduate of Paris Nanterre University. In addition to Hungarian, she speaks three other languages including English, French and German.

Katalin Novák began her political career as early as 2001, during the first Orbán government, when she was appointed foreign minister, where her work was mainly related to European affairs. She became a pastor in 2010, where she worked in this position for two years. After the same position, she was appointed head of the cabinet of the Ministry of Human Resources and continued to carry out her duties for another two or three years.
Later in 2014 she was appointed to the new position of Secretary of State for Family and Youth Affairs of EMMI and after holding the same position for around 6 years she became Minister for Family Affairs in October 2020.
Between 2017 and 2021 she received another position as Vice President of Fidesz. Following the results of the 2014 elections, Katalin Novák was promoted to State Secretary for Family and Youth. She has been announced as the leading figure for the position of deputy party leader of Fidesz, which she held between 2017 and 2021. She has been a Member of Parliament since 2018. In 2020 he was given the post of Minister for Family and Youth, from which she resigned to take up the post of President.
Rise to Fame
On December 21, 2021, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced that Novák will be his candidate for the 2022 presidential election, and consequently she won the majority of votes. Back in 2020, Katalin topped the list of the most influential Hungarian women, and regardless of her position in Hungary, she is considered the closest minister to the head of government (according to Forbes).
