Katie Taylor is a sophomore on the Tennessee Lady Volunteers roster and plays in the NCAA Division 1 tournament. Katie won three Georgia Class 7A state championships in four years at East Coweta HS in Sharpsburg, Georgia. Extra Inning Softball ranked her the #1 and #24 outfielder overall in the 2021 class, and she hit .414 with a career-best 14 doubles in her senior year and earned first-team honors across the region.
As a junior at East Coweta High School, Katie excelled academically and athletically, earning first-team all-region and county recognition in the fall of 2019. She played travel baseball for the East Cobb Bullets, where she hit the winning home run in the 2019 Triple Crown/USA National Championship game. She also helped her high school earn a national top spot on MaxPreps in 2017 and 2018.
In 2018, as a sophomore, Katie was junior varsity’s most valuable player. Tennessee’s top pinch runner played 48 games in her freshman year for the Lady Vols and contributed 19 runs and seven stolen bases for the Big Orange. She thumped a 5-2 win for UT over then-16th-ranked Auburn 5/7 in the first half of the game.
During a difficult period, he scored four goals in a row: against UNC Greensboro (4/23), East Carolina (4/24), Liberty (4/27) and Ole Miss (5/1). She had two runs in Tennessee’s win over Texas A&M (4/16, 4/17) and had one of the Vols’ nine runs in their win over Lipscomb (3/30). Katie got her first two at-bats against UC San Diego (2/25) and contributed a walk and a stolen base to UT’s win over UC Davis. She hit her first collegiate run on opening day for Tennessee against UNC Greensboro.
