Laura Harrier is an American model and actress who has been in the entertainment industry for almost a decade. She moved from her hometown to New York city in search of a better future and to find opportunities in her acting career. After playing the lead role of Liz Allan in Spiderman: Homecoming which brought international recognition and also a breakthrough in her acting journey.
Early life
Laura Harrier was born on March 28, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois, United States of America. She was born and raised in the city of Evanston, Illinois. Her father, Temujin Harrier, is African American, and her mother, Linda, is of Polish and English descent. William, her younger brother, is her only sibling.
Laura attended Evanston Township High School, where she studied acting and played sports. In high school, she took an interest in fashion and was voted best dressed.
After graduating from high school in 2008, Harrier moved to New York City to study art history at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.

Laura Harrier started modeling at the age of 17 after being discovered by a location scout who was a friend of her mother’s. Her first acting appearance was as Destiny Evans in the online revival of the American soap opera One Life to Live while she was a student at William Esper Studio (2013).
Shenell Edmonds played the role in the original series and was given a chance to reprise it in the revival, but she turned it down; Harrier took over the role after the audition.
Harrier then appeared as Amber in the television series Unforgettable (2014) and in the film The Last Five Years (2014), in which she played a young lady who is having an affair with Jamie, played by Jeremy Jordan.
She starred in the 2015 film 4th Man Out and in her senior year with William Esper, she was cast in Steve McQueen’s HBO miniseries pilot Codes of Conduct. In 2016, Harrier starred in The Realest Real alongside Rowan Blanchard and Mahershala Ali. She has also acted in ads for Calvin Klein and Louis Vuitton, among others.
In the film BlacKkKlansman, Harrier played Patrice Dumas, a civil rights activist (2018). The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2018, where it received the Grand Prix and was released in theaters in August 2018. Lee’s courses at New York University, where he is a film professor, were also attended by Harrier. Harrier was nominated for a Black Reel Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for her work in the film.
