Lindsey Jacobellis is now a female snowboarder from the United States. Lindsey Jacobellis was born on August 19, 1985 in Danbury, Connecticut. Ben Jacobellis (father) and Anita Jacobellis (mother) are her parents and also have a brother named Ben who competed in the X Games when he was 15 years old. Lindsey’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was young, but was able to seek treatment thanks to early discovery. On February 17, 2006, Jacobellis reached the bottom of the slope there at the 2006 Winter Olympics with a margin of 43 meters (140 feet) and three seconds over Tanja Frieden of Switzerland in the Olympic gold final of a snowboard cross.
Jacobellis attempted a celebratory technique hold on the penultimate jump, landing narrowly on the edge of her snowboard and falling. Peace won the gold by bypassing them; Jacobellis recovered and had to settle for silver. Jacobellis did not make it to a medal round of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics because she awkwardly landed on a jump early in her semifinal race and ran through a gate to avoid colliding with another rider, resulting in an immediate disqualification.
Then she lost her way. In the end she finished fifth. At the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Jacobellis did not make it to the finals of snowboard cross. She was leading the semi-final race when she fell. In the overall standings, she finished seventh. Jacobellis reached the final of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang County, South Korea and led most of the race but finished fourth by just 0.003 seconds and fell off the podium for the second time.
