Personal Life of Marni Yang
Yang first married his ex-husband Yen Yang. Yen and Marni married on June 10, 1990 but divorced five years later in April 1995. They divorced in August 1997 and Marni was given custody of their three children. According to a 2009 interview with the Chicago Tribune, Marni Yang allegedly displayed troubling behavior while still married to Yen, including threatening to commit suicide if he ever left her. She is suspected of also stalking Yen during their time together. According to Yen Yang, Marni had threatened Yen Yang with several suicide threats, all based on her trying to take pills. Marni reportedly continued her relationship with her ex while she was dating Yang in college.
Divorce
Marni Yang was the one who filed for divorce in 1997. She also obtained custody of their three children and obtained a court protection order after Yen Yang allegedly threatened her and her children. As a result, Yen was unable to maintain contact with Marni and the children. Yen remarried shortly after divorcing Marni and he and his new wife gave birth to a daughter in 2008. After his ex-wife was arrested, Yen has been reluctant to speak publicly about the matter, although a source has informed Yen is constantly afraid of revenge on his new family if Marni Yang is ever released.
During her marriage to Yen Yang, she was also said to have dated other police officers, most notably a married police officer who claims she was trying to cause trouble in his family. She is said to have met this officer while attending a community policing program in Chicago, which she did for a short time. This is also considered to be one of the reasons why their relationship failed.
