He also served as a sergeant-narcotics bureau for a year, lieutenant Hammocks district uniform patrol for a year, then as a lieutenant in the general investigative unit for two years, became a captain in the narcotics bureau for three years, a major in the homicide bureau for a year, and then became chief of criminal investigation for an additional year.
Freddy served in the police force for 19 years and had various designations and promotions. He was then promoted to deputy director of investigative services for one year, deputy director of police services for two years, deputy director for one year, and then director for another two years.
He started out as an assistant director and spent nearly another seven years in the police force. As of March 2022, he has served as the interim director of public safety for Miami-Dade County. Freddy dedicated 26 years to the law enforcement profession.
In addition to having a full career in law enforcement, Freddy Ramirez is a member of various associations such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Major County Sheriffs Association, Police Executive Research Forum, Florida Police Chiefs Association, Eleventh Judicial Circuit Advisory Board, Dade-Miami Criminal Justice Council and Miami-Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police.
