Niki Tshibaka is an American attorney and the Chief Human Resource Officer for the Municipality of Anchorage, better known as the husband of politician Kelly Tshibaka. Niki is well-versed in both politics and law and has extensive experience in them. Early life
Born in Manila, Philippines, Niki Tshibaka is currently in his 40s but has not shared his exact date of birth. His father was an African from the Democratic Republic of the Congo while his mother was an American from Minnesota. He grew up in Africa in his early years and later moved to Brazil and Spain. Niki began his legal career as an associate for Wiley Rein LLP, where he worked in international law after graduating before joining the US Department of Justice as senior trial counsel. He has worked in civil rights, labor disputes, etc. In later years he served as pastor of the International Church of Foursquare Gospel and Lighthouse Fellowship. He advised and supported the district supervisor in the management of the budget and also tried to solve the church crises. Along with his wife, Kelly, he became a full-time pastor of the church in 2007, helping it grow. In 2019 he became Assistant Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development in Anchorage. He worked with the Executive Leadership Team and assisted on several projects.
He has also served on the boards of the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Serve Alaska, Rural Alaska Community Action Program, and the Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness. During Covid he organized the Alaska Faith Leader Coivd 19 Task Force and established the State Day of Prayer and Hope. He currently serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for the City of Anchorage and serves as the Senior Executive Team to the Mayor of Anchorage. He advises the mayor on personnel matters as well as on collective bargaining and negotiation matters. Earlier this year he was criticized for supporting Eledge, who was under investigation at the Equal Opportunities Office. He was subsequently dismissed from the case over staff complaints by the public library staff and the investigation was taken over by the prosecutor’s office.
