Tanner Hall is an American collegiate baseball pitcher for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. In his last start against Ole Miss in the NCAA Oxford Regional, he went five innings without conceding a hit while batting a best of the season with five batters to earn his first save of his career. He was named to the Dean’s Roll of Honor for the Spring 2021 semester, the Athletic Director’s Roll of Honor for the Fall 2020 semester, and the C-USA Commissioner’s Roll of Honor. He also received recognition on both lists.
Early life
Tanner Hall was born on March 18 to Paul and Danielle. Tanner Hall completed his preparatory training at Zachary High School, where he played for the baseball and football teams for four years. He was selected to the 2020 LHSCA All-Star East baseball team and contributed to Zachary High School’s 8-4 record in baseball.
He helped lead the Broncos to their first-ever postseason trip during the 2019-20 varsity football season at Zachary High School. During his junior season, he was named Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association Region 8 Pitcher of the Year and an LSWA All-State Honorable Mention. He led the Zachary High School baseball team to the LHSAA Class 5A quarterfinals in 2019. He is currently studying for a degree in business administration.
Tanner played in 18 games, making one start and ending the game on a 1-1 record with a 5.02 ERA. His only start was on his debut when he went 3 1/3 innings while conceding just one run from three walks and four strikeouts while suffering the loss for South Alabama. His only win came in 1 1/3 innings of the bullpen against Louisiana-Lafayette and an unearned run on a hit. He didn’t allow a run in back-to-back starts against Alabama, where he threw 1 2/3 goalless frames with a hit and two strikeouts, and then added two shutout innings against Louisiana Tech, where he had four strikeouts.

He was voted the Ferris Trophy winner for the best college baseball player in the state of Mississippi after 109 innings with 146 strikeouts and just 14 walks. He qualified as a national semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award and became the seventh different Golden Eagle to win the Conference USA Pitcher of the Year Award.
Tanner was twice voted the league’s Pitcher of the Week (on March 14 and April 25) and finished the year in third place nationally for strikeouts, walks per nine innings, and strikeout-to-walk ratio (No. 3/10,43). He was the first Golden Eagle to represent USA Baseball in an international baseball competition since Tony Phillips attended the 1991 Pan American Games in Cuba. He received honorable mentions from the C-USA Commissioner and Athletic Director for the Spring 2022 semester.

Personal life
Tanner is dating Brianna Paige, who is also from his hometown. In fact, the lovebirds are currently studying at the same college, and Brianna is one of the members of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles baseball team’s cheerleading squad.
