Early life
Angel Reese was born on May 6, 2002 in Randallstown, Maryland to parents Michael Reese and Angel Reese. However, she was raised by her mother as a single mother after her parents divorced. She grew up as the older sibling of her brother Julian, who plays for the University of Maryland. She also has a stepbrother named Mikael Hopkins from her father’s second marriage.
Angel grew up in a family of basketball players and was always involved in sports throughout school, being involved in basketball, swimming, track and field and ballet. Angel is known to have completed her high school graduation from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. She later joined college at the University of Maryland in 2020 where she majored in communications and most recently transferred to Louisiana State University in 2022.

Angle began her basketball career during high school and was an active participant on the school’s basketball teams. She played at the point guard position and averaged 11.1 points as a freshman in high school. Reese became the first-team All-Metro pick in her sophomore year with point average of 17.6. Angel maintained her records throughout her high school years and eventually became an ESPN five-star recruit.
She joined the University of Maryland and posted a season-best 20 points in her freshman year of college. She averaged 10 points in her freshman season and was also named the Big Ten All-Freshman. In her sophomore season, she became one of the top offensive rebounders. In the game against Miami, she had a career-high 26 points with 15 rebounds. She also led her collegiate team to reach the 2022 NCAA tournament.

Angel received an American Honorable Mention from the United States Basketball Writers Association. However, in her junior year, she transferred to Louisiana State University and joined LSU’s Tigers basketball team, which she represents with pride and ownership to this day.
