Griffin Herring is a left-handed baseball pitcher who currently represents the LSU Tigers baseball team in the NCAA Division 1 tournament. Early life
A native of Southlake, Texas, Griffin was born in the 2000s and is a freshman at LSU. There is no information about his parents or siblings. We’ll update you as soon as we get our hands on it. In 2019, the previously unknown Southlake Carroll left-hander threw 4.2 innings scoreless against the nation’s top-ranked Argyle team. He allowed just one shot, knocking out ten batsmen and eventually winning the game for his team.
It was his last regular-season game before an injury interrupted his debut season. Then COVID-19 wiped out his sophomore year. In his senior year, Herring was unbeatable on the mound, going 47 total innings without conceding a run. It all ended in the 6A State Playoffs at Dell Diamond in Round Rock when Fort Bend Ridge Point hit a run in the seventh inning to give Carroll a 6-1 win.
Griffin Herring career
In his only appearance at the state tournament, Herring pulled it off and scored 13 strikeouts. In the regional finals, he faced Keller, a district opponent, and threw a shutout over the entire game, allowing only two hitters and knocking out eight hitters. Herring first pledged his allegiance to LSU in October 2018, months before he ever pitched a varsity pitch, and he maintained that allegiance through a coaching staff change the following year in 2021.
Herring’s draft inventory increased as his strikeout total increased that year. He’s scheduled to meet with a few major league baseball organizations before the draft, he’s already ready and eager to pitch for the Tigers. In 2022, he led Southlake Carroll to the state championship with a 13-1 record, 0.24 ERA, 145 strikeouts in 87 innings, and 47.1 straight innings without conceding a run. In the postseason for Southlake in 2022, he recorded a perfect 6-0 with 71 strikeouts and a .19 ERA.
