The whole story
The children’s mother found the bodies of her three children in the bedrooms of the house. Police Chief Gilbert Rivera said authorities received a call at 1:40 p.m. local time to inspect the condition of the home.
The request came after the mother was supposed to pick up her children from her “strange husband”. The mother’s name is Debbie Karels, which was revealed after visiting her Facebook page where she shared the pictures of all her children along with her father Jason. The mother reportedly works as a waitress at a local restaurant, according to her Facebook page.
The children were found dead by the mother in the bedroom. Upon discovering her dead children, she entered the house and saw the bodies lying on the floor. She immediately called the police, who found three dead children and father Jason missing from the house. He was immediately found by the police and the mother as the person of interest.
The police officer said the mother was coming to pick up her three children from the doctor’s appointment. Immediately after seeing the children’s bodies, the police began an investigation and search for Jason Karels.

After Jason Karels’ vehicle was spotted on Interstate 57, Karels led police on a 17-minute high-speed chase that further ended when he overturned his car on Interstate 80 west of Chicago. After the crash, Jason was immediately taken into custody.
According to Rivera police officers, Jason Karels was immediately taken into custody after he was suspected of being responsible for the deaths of his three children and attempted to successfully kill them.
