Jennie Gow is an English journalist and presenter, best known for being the face of BBC Sport’s MotoGP motorcycle racing coverage in 2010. She is currently BBC News’ F1 correspondent and works as a reporter for both the BBC News Channel and BBC World News.
She is also an F1 presenter and pit lane reporter for BBC Radio 5 Live. However, on January 13, 2023, Jennie announced via Twitter that she had suffered a massive stroke two weeks earlier and had to take an extended break from work.
Early life
Jennie Gow was born on May 20, 1997, in Southampton, United Kingdom. Gow grew up in Dorset, but when she was seven her family moved to Wargrave, Berkshire. She received her education at the Piggott School and took an active part in the local theater. In addition, Gow had a passion for sports and achieved great success as a helmsman for various rowing teams, winning several medals in the process.

Gow’s professional experience includes working as a ski lodge maid in France and a brief stint as a clerk in the records and records department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. In 1992 she began working for the Henley Standard. After graduating in Media and Communication Studies, she joined BBC Sport in 1999 as Production Secretary for Sports Personality of the Century.
She then joined BBC Radio Solent as a transport and travel presenter in 2001 before becoming a journalist on the sports team covering Southampton, Portsmouth, and AFC Bournemouth. After leaving the BBC, Gow worked briefly at 107.4 The Quay in Portsmouth before being appointed breakfast show presenter at Somerset’s Orchard FM.
During her time there she was asked to present the Somerset Rebels’ speedway events at Highbridge, which led to her being noticed by a television producer and given her the opportunity to present the FIM Long Track World Championships.
Rise to Fame
This opened up the opportunity for her to present independent productions on Speedway and Motocross which have been broadcast on various channels such as Channel 4, Sky Sports, Men & Motors, and Motors TV.
She began working as a continuity announcer for ITV in the summer of 2004 and later Five from 2007-08. She has also hosted the Jersey Rally since 2006. After joining Reading 107 FM in 2006, Gow became a presenter on Sky Sports, eventually presenting both Sky Sports News and Online Bulletins.
In March 2010 it was announced that Gow would take on the role of new presenter of the BBC’s MotoGP coverage, alongside pit reporter Matt Roberts and commentators Charlie Cox and Steve Parrish, following Suzi Perry’s retirement at the end of the 2009 series. However, she was succeeded by Roberts as the main presenter for the following season in 2011.
