Early life
Jenny Chiu was born on September 25, 1995. Jenny is a daughter of Chinese father and Mexican mother. Her father’s name is Andy Chiu and her mother’s name is Lorena Chiu, while her siblings are named Andy and Steven Chiu.
Jenny completed her high school education at a local high school. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in reporting and a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from the UNC School of Media and Journalism.

Jenny started her career as a journalist in 2015 when she got her first job as a multimedia presenter and journalist while still a student. She hosted Carolina Ahora, UNC’s only Spanish-language news program, several times a week, and sourced, researched, and authored stories for me and other presenters as part of a student-led program.
Jenny also researched, filmed and edited extensive UNC athlete feature packs for Sports Xtra. She then worked for two months as a freelance reporter at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Chiu worked for the Olympic News Service in Rio, where she covered the 2016 Olympics, chaired press conferences and interviewed athletes.
Rise to Fame
She also researched the players’ backgrounds and stories to develop compelling, tailored interview questions. Interviewed soccer and badminton athletes shortly after competitions, recorded exclusive, real-time player reactions, and recorded and translated statements for distribution to international media outlets such as the Associated Press and USA Today.
Joining FOX Sports Australia upon graduation in September 2017, she spent a month on camera interviewing sports athletes in Spanish about their personal and professional seasonal forecasts, as well as navigating cultural channels. While playing football in Australia, she also provided English translations for the accompanying subtitles.
She later became a digital and social media intern in April 2018 for a variety of reasons for five months, conducting on-camera post-game interviews with players.
Then, in August 2018, she took a job as a reporter in Orlando, where she stayed for two years. She researched the team and their opponent for match previews, media availability and on-camera updates. This was the first time she worked on a contract basis.
She joined CBS as a sports reporter in September 2018, where she is still employed. As a UEFA Champions League reporter on the ground, she has many responsibilities.
