Leaky Black or Rechon “Leaky” Black is a well-known basketball player who spent nearly five years of his collegiate career at UNC. Leaky Black career
While pursuing his career and preparing for basketball, he played as a senior under the tutelage of Jody Barbee at Cox Mill High School in Concord. He played the first two seasons at Concord High School and also played some of his roles in plays while he was at Montverde Academy during his junior years. Leaky Black was trained under the guidance of George Walker and Jason Stowe at Concord and Kevin Boyle at Montverde.
Rechon was the defensive MVP in the premier Cox Mill and 2018 3A state championships. With his hard work and efficient efforts, he rose to the rank of No. 2 in the state and No. 21 in the nation. He received first-team honors from every state, every district and every conference in 2018.
In addition, he was named MaxPreps All-America for his second year. He played as a quarterback for football in his teens. In the 2019–2020 season, on November 28, 2019 in Michigan, he suffered from a right foot injury early in the second half of the Michigan game due to a severe turf toe.
Leaky did not return to the final. He later started the game against Oregon but was knocked out after 8 minutes due to discomfort. He was unable to play the game against Wofford on December 15, 2019 because of his turf toe. From 2021-2022 he has completed almost 30 games with an average time of 28.5 minutes. He has played his four seasons with North Carolina beginning January 1, 2016.
