Melissa Stark is an American TV personality who works as a sports and television host. She worked as a part-time reporter for Monday Night Football for three years. Melissa is currently fulfilling her responsibilities with NFL Network and has previously worked with NBC, MSNBC and many others. She was a correspondent for NBC’s “The Today Show” and has also covered a wide range of news while working at MSNBC. During her time at MSNBC, she covered the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Prior to NBC, Stark worked with ESPN.
Early life
Melissa Stark was born on November 11, 1973 in Baltimore, Maryland. She is 49 years old and has a degree in foreign affairs and Spanish from the University of Virginia. Stark was an active figure, formerly serving on the various committees of the college.
During her studies she was part of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Her father’s name is Walter Stark, who is an eye surgeon by trade and works at the Wilmer Eye Clinic in Baltimore, Maryland. She has spent part of her life in Baltimore, where she graduated from Roland Park Country School before attending the University of Virginia.
Melissa Stark career
Melissa Stark began her career in 1991 as a news intern working on assignment desk at WMAR-TV in Baltimore. During her internship, she worked on various desk tasks. Later in 1993 and 1994 she was interned on CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. Her work with CBS consisted of writing screenplays for health correspondent Bob Arnot and gathering background on the various investigative plays for the health line.
Stark has also worked as a reporter and production assistant for Virginia Sports Marketing for the University of Virginia. Later in 1996, she began her professional life, joining ESPN with the responsibilities of hosting weekly programs such as Scholastic Sports America. She traveled to the United States while covering and generating or engaging human interest in college and high school sports.
From 1996 to 2003, Stark began working with ESPN’s SportsCenter and began working as a regular on Sunday NFL Countdown and Outside the Line, for which she also received an Emmy Award. Stark has also worked as an on-site SportsCenter anchor, covering the MLB stories and other stories related to golf, NHL and NCAA basketball – all for the network.
Rise to Fame
Later on at ESPN, Stark joined ABC Sports in June 2000, where she was a sideline reporter for Monday Night Football for at least three seasons. She has also worked as a reporter for ABC Sports, covering figure skating, NFL Pro Bowl and celebrity gold events.
Later on ABC, Stark moved to NBC News and worked as a national correspondent for The Today Show. Despite this, she also anchored the programs on MSNBC Live. She has done field research for the network and has delegated responsibilities for the shows NFL Total Access and Around The League Live. Beginning in 2012, she was given the responsibility of hosting NFL Network’s game day, which was an on-field show. She also hosted the 2013 NFL regular seasons, pre-game shows and GameDay Kickoff – assigned to her along with other correspondents such as Shaun O’Hara, Sterling Sharpe and Brian Billick.
