Princesa Leonor was born on October 31, 2005, at 1:46 am at Ruber International Hospital in Madrid. As of 2022, she is a 17-year-old stylish Princess of Asturias. On January 14, 2006, she was baptized at the Zarzuela Palace by the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Antonio Rouco Varela. Her father’s name is Felipe VI and he is the King of Spain. Her mother’s name is Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, and she is the Queen of Spain. She has a little sister named Sofia. Her sister Sofia is a 15-year-old student at the Santa María de Los Rosales school in Madrid.
Princess Leonor attended the Spanish Royal Guard’s daycare center called Escuela Infantil Guardia Real. On September 15, 2008, she began her first year of primary school outside of Madrid at the Santa María de Los Rosales School in Aravaca. In May 2014, she made her first official visit to San Javier Air Force Base in Murcia. According to Catholic custom, she received her first communion on May 20, 2015. In January 2018, Princess Leonor was officially awarded the Necklace of the Golden Fleece by her father, King Felipe, in a ceremony at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
Public performances
Her first public engagement outside the palace was in September 2018. She also accompanied her parents to Covadonga, around 1,300. to celebrate the anniversary of the Kingdom of Asturias. On October 31, 2018, on her 13th birthday, she gave her first public speech at the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid. During the speech, she read out the first article of the Spanish Constitution, and the speech coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution. On October 18, 2019, she made a public appearance and gave a speech at the Premio Princesa de Asturias.
She then appeared and spoke publicly, giving a speech at the Princess of Girona Foundation Awards in Barcelona, where she spoke in Spanish, Catalan, English, and Arabic. On 10 February 2021, it was announced that she would continue her secondary education at UWC (United World College) of the Atlantic in Wales in the Autumn 2021 season, studying the two-year IB (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme) diploma programme. In the same month, she became part of her first public solo engagement while attending the 30th anniversary of the Instituto Cervantes.
