Born on November 15, 2004, Tallen Edwards is the daughter of Larry and Pam Edwards, both of whom come from strong athletic backgrounds. Larry was a baseball player at Rose State College while Pam excelled at softball at Oklahoma Baptist University.
Talen’s siblings Trey followed in their parents’ footsteps and played baseball at Murray State College before joining the New York Collegiate Baseball League in 2014. Her sister Trinity got involved in softball, playing for notable institutions like Missouri, Texas Tech, and San Jose State. Talen is currently majoring in biology and is actively involved with the American Student Dental Association.
Tallen Edwards career
Tallen Edwards signed a contract with Oklahoma State before her senior year of high school so she could play volleyball instead of basketball. She was listed by Extra Innings Softball’s 2023 Extra Elite 100 as the country’s third-best softball contender for the 2023 class.
During her brief high school career, she and her teams under head coach Jason Lingo won multiple titles, including the 6A Slowpitch State Championship in 2022 and the 6A Fastpitch State Championship in 2020 and 2021. She was placed in the 6A-1 All – She played on the Southmoore district team every three years and was named to the all-coach first team every three years.
Tallen was a member of the Birmingham Thunderbolts 18U Premier, a softball association based in the Alabama capital. She learned the craft from Rock Thompson. In her freshman year of college in 2023, she hit .244 with three RBIs against Maryland on February 12 and .333 with two RBIs, a double, and a home run in wins over Michigan on February 18 and New Mexico on February 24th.
She hit a three-run home run against UTEP on February 26 and went in the first game of a doubleheader against Incarnate Word on April 1 with two runs batted and a 3-on-4 double in the first game against Texas on April 22 She hit two runs to score her first career treble at the right field line on May 6 against No. 1/1 Oklahoma. At the May 19-21 NCAA Stillwater Regional, she hit .500 (5-for-9) with three runs scored, two doubles, and two RBI.
