His first stint was with the State College Spikes of the New York-Penn League’s Class A short season, where he won 2-2 in 11 games with a 2.30 ERA and 36 strikeouts. In 2015, Gomber was named a Midwest League All-Star while pitching for the Peoria Chiefs.
