Geno Smith or Eugene Cyril Geno Smith III is an American football player who currently plays at the quarterback position for the Seattle Seahawks team in the NFL. He had a very successful college career and was first drafted by the New York Jets in 2013.
Early life
Geno Smith was born on October 10, 1990, in Lakemont, Georgia, USA. He was born in Georgia to his parents, Eugene Smith Jr. and Tracy Seller, and grew up with his family members about the sport. His great-uncle Danny Smith, his grandfather, and his cousin Melvin Bratton are also soccer players.
Geno completed his high school education at Miramar High School in Florida and for his college education. He joined West Virginia College, where he also played to further his football career.

Geno began his football career in high school, where he was part of the school team and rushed for 2,200 yards and 25 touchdowns in his junior year. He was named a second-team All-State quarterback and also earned the overall Broward County second-team title in 2007. His successful high school career earned him four prospect stars from all rating sites such as Scout and Rivals and was also named the #1 player in Broward County.
He joined West Virginia in 2009 and completed 32 passes and 309 yards in his freshman year and finished the season with an 81.1 rating. He became the starting quarterback in his sophomore year and rushed for 2,763 yards with 24 touchdowns. The following year he broke several personal records and became the Big East single-season passing leader. In his senior year of high school, he announced his entry into the NFL Draft.
NFL
In 2013, he was drafted by the New York Jets and made his professional debut against the Detroit Lions. He was later named the starting quarterback for the season. He finished the season with 3,046 yards, 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. The following season, he feuded with the starting quarterback and finished the season with 2,525 yards and 13 touchdowns.
In 2015, he suffered a fractured jaw due to an altercation with IK Enemkpali in the dressing room, which prevented him from playing most games during the season. However, in 2017 he joined the New York Giants team and played the season with the team that rushed for 212 yards. The following season, he joined the Los Angeles Chargers for a year, playing just five games.
In 2019, he joined his current team, the Seattle Seahawks, but was dropped due to competition. Re-signed in 2020 and eventually 2021, he played his first game with the team against the Los Angeles Rams.
