Early life
During his formative years, Jhony Rafael Brito lived with his family in the Puerto Plata region of the Dominican Republic. As a teenager, Jhony began his pro career by joining the DSL Yankees Rookie Affiliate Team, where he played his first games.

Brito joined the New York Yankees as an international free agent on November 9, 2015, and kickstarted his professional career in 2016 with the Dominican Summer League Yankees. In the 2017 season, he played for the Low-A Staten Island Yankees, making three impressive scoreless starts and recording eight strikeouts. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury that season that necessitated Tommy John surgery, causing him to sit out the entire 2018 season.

He continued to hone his skills in 2022 with Somerset and the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, participating in 26 games, 23 of which he started, and recording an impressive 11-4 record, a 2.96 ERA, and 91 strikeouts in over 112 innings pitched.
On November 10, 2022, the Yankees added Brito to the 40-man roster to safeguard him from the Rule 5 draft. To begin the 2023 season, Brito was initially sent to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. However, due to an injury sustained by Luis Severino, he was called up to join the major league rotation, marking his MLB debut on April 2.
