Kristi Noem is the governor of South Dakota and has worked tirelessly for the betterment of the state since January 5, 2019. She is the 33rd governor of the state of South Dakota.

Early life
On November 30, 1971, Kristi was born. Kristi Noem was born in Watertown, South Dakota to Ron and Corinne Arnold and grew up with her brothers on her family’s ranch and farm in rural Hamlin County. In March 1994, Noem’s father died in a tractor accident, a month before Noem’s daughter Kassidy was born. The family estate was expanded by Noem who built a hunting lodge and restaurant. Her siblings returned to help expand the business. Noem won the Snow Queen of South Dakota title after graduating from Hamlin High School in 1990.
She says the experience helped her improve her public speaking and marketing skills. Noem attended Northern State University from 1990 to 1992 after graduating high school. She married Bryon Noem in Watertown, South Dakota in 1992 at the age of 20 after dropping out of college. Noem studied courses at Mount Marty College in Watertown and South Dakota State University after her father’s death, as well as online programs at the University of South Dakota, where she graduated in 2011.

She was a member of the Republican Party and served in the South Dakota House of Representatives for the 6th District from 2007 to 2011. From 2011 to 2019 she was the US Representative for the general congressional district of South Dakota. In 2018, Noem was elected governor. Noem was elected representative of the South Dakota House of Representatives (comprising portions of Beadle, Clark, Codington, Hamlin, and Kingsbury counties, but excluding Watertown) in 2006. She was elected in 2006 with 39 percent. In 2008 she was re-elected to a second term with 41% of the vote. House rules have been enacted during the COVID-19 epidemic, such as the policies of Anthony Fauci and Joe Biden. According to a CPAC straw poll, 4% of respondents want Noem to run for president in 2024, third in line with Trump and Ron DeSantis.
Another poll found that if Trump doesn’t, 11% of respondents want her to run for president, second only to DeSantis. Noem signed SB124 on March 10, 2021. Proponents of the bill said it was intended to protect churches from closure during the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, it was amended to be broader, drawing condemnation from civil rights organizations that claimed he would allow discrimination against LGBTQ+ people, women, and minority religions. This bill, which mirrors Indiana Gov. Mike Pence’s 2015 bill, was the first law restoring religious freedom in six years. Noem said on Twitter on March 8 that she will sign HB 1217, the Women’s Fairness in Sport Act, which bans transgender athletes from participating in or competing against high school women’s and collegiate athletic teams. Some law enemies fear it will drive away businesses and state money.

Bryon Noem has been Noem’s husband since 1992. Kassidy Noem, Booker Noem and Kennedy Noem are their three children. Noem and her family live in Castlewood, South Dakota at Racota Valley Ranch. In Watertown, South Dakota, her family joins a Foursquare Church.
