Mohamed Muizzu was born on 15th June 1978, in Malé, Maldives. His father Sheikh Hussain Abdul Rahman served as the judge while his mother is Husna Adam. Muizzue has a half-sister Fathimath Saudha who is also a politician.
Muizzu attended the prestigious Majidhiyya School before pursuing his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in structural engineering at the University of London. He furthered his education by obtaining a Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Leeds.

Muizzu kicked off his political journey in 2012, joining the Adhaalath Party (AP). He later served as the Minister of Housing and Environment during President Waheed’s and President Abdulla Yameen’s administrations.
