NiJaree Canady is a softball player who plays softball for the Stanford Cardinals in the 2023 NCAA. She led her team to the first-ever state championships (2021–2022) and a total of back-to-back victories.
NiJaree announced her verbal commitment to the Stanford softball program in November 2021, capping a recruiting journey that began before she even started high school. Early life
NiJaree Canady was born on March 1, 2003. She is the daughter of Bruce and Katherine Canady and has a younger brother named Bruce Canady Jr. Her father, Bruce, played football in high school and college. Although only a sophomore, my brother, BJ Canady, has already been offered Division I football scholarships. She graduated from Topeka High School in 2022.

Canady first heard about college recruiters when she was a middle school student. However, as September 1, 2020, approached, things really got heated, and that continued until Tuesday’s announcement.
The recruitment process might be difficult for top prospects, but Canady said she was treated very well by the schools that targeted her, even as she had to start narrowing down her college options.
After also making unofficial visits to Kansas and Oklahoma State, Canady eventually narrowed her list of potential institutions to Stanford, Arizona, and UCLA. She only made her final decision last weekend.
Canady was named Shawnee County Softball Player of the Year as a junior by TopSports.news after leading the Trojans to an undefeated season and the school’s first Class 6A state softball championship.
Canady had a perfect pitching record of 21-0, a .26 earned run average, 226 strikeouts, and a .478 batting average with 13 homers. She also had a batting average of .478. Canady put on her best performance during the State 6A, going through three full games without conceding a deserved run and hitting a solo home run in a 1-0 semifinal win over Gardner-Edgerton.
After defeating Olathe North 7-1 in the state championship, High won the semifinal game. Canady was also named to the first-ever All-Shawnee County girls’ basketball team by TopSports.news as a junior after leading Topeka High to a second-place finish in the 6A state tournament and a 23-2 overall record. Canady averaged 20.6 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game.
