She is the daughter of her father, Miguel Campos, and mother, Maria del Pilar, who were teachers at a junior high school in Chandler, Arizona. Rachel has two brothers and one sister named Patrick Campos, Joseph Campos, and Leah Campos Schandlbauer.
As an undergraduate, Rachel attended Seton Catholic Preparatory High School, after which she enrolled at Arizona State University, where she graduated and earned her degree in economics. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, Rachel attended the University of California, San Diego, where she earned her master’s degree in international affairs.

In 1994, Rachel and her six roommates appeared in Real Word: San Francisco. She lived there from February 12 to June 19. The series premiered on July 6, 1994. Later in 1994, Rachel appeared in Road Rules: All-Stars along with cast members from The Real World such as Sean Duffy. Rachel was one of the ten real-world cast members who starred in The Wedding Video, a 2003 film focused on one of Norman Korpi’s real-world cast members. Duffy tried three times for the role on the television talk show The View. She participated in an on-air tryout with Lisa Ling and Lauren Sanchez when Lis Ling was hired in 1999.
Lisa left the show in 2002, after which Rachel went up against Erin Hershey Presley and Elisabeth Hasselback when Elisabeth was hired. After Elizabeth left, Rachel again competed for the spot but failed. During an appearance on the Fox News program titled The Ingraham Angle on June 21, 2018, Rachel defeated the Trump administration’s controversial practice. In 2017, Duffy praised Republican congressional candidate Greg Gianforte of Montana for physically assaulting Ben Jacobs, a reporter. Duffy claimed that there was fraud and shenanigans in the election without evidence when Joe Biden won the election against Donald Trump.
