Five teenagers were arrested with him, Yusef Salaam, Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray and Korey Wise. All were between 14 and 16 years old. On the night of April 19, 1989, Trisha was found unconscious with a fractured skull, a body temperature of 84 degrees and 75% of her blood drained from her body. When she recovered, she had no memory of the attack.
All of the teenagers were convicted of the attacks in two separate trials. Raymond was tried as a juvenile and convicted of rape and assault and sentenced to five to 10 years in prison. Matias Reyes later admitted it was his doing. On December 19, 2002, the Manhattan District Attorney declared that five men had their convictions vacated. Raymond spent five years in prison for a crime he did not commit.
