Early life
Sophia Schubert was born on January 31, 1996, in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was raised by her loving and caring parents, Bill and Delisa Schubert. Sophia shared her childhood with her loving sister Savanna. It is known that she studied sports management at the University of Texas Longhorns and graduated from high school at the Christian Academy of Knoxville.
Sophia started playing golf at the age of four when her mother enrolled her and her sister in golf lessons. But she always wanted something other than golf that could distract her. She discovered her interest in learning to fly an airplane. So she started taking classes at McGhee Tyson Airport.
Since November 2022 she has been taking flight lessons and practicing to obtain a license. She has yet to learn how to land the plane and is expected to receive the license in the next few months. She is still a beginner and eventually wants to fly to the tournaments herself.
Sophia Schubert career
Sophia Schubert won the 2017 US Women’s Amateur Championship, edging out world third-ranked personality and former Olympian Albane Valenzuela. Schubert had her participation from the Texas Longhorns side. She was the first Longhorn to win the US Women’s Amateur Championship after the title was won by Kelli Kuehne in 1996.
Her trainer in Texas visited Sophia. She completed her freshman year at Auburn and was later transferred to Texas. Previously, she competed in golf at her high school, the Christian Academy of Knoxville.
Sophia completed all of her college golf practices in 2018, turning pro as a result. She made her pro debut at the 2018 Indy Women in Tech Championship, played on the Symetra Tour in 2019, and later earned her first pro win at the 2021 Carolina Golf Classic on the Symetra Tour.
