Aaron Wiggins is an American professional basketball player who will feature in the Oklahoma City Thunder jersey in the NBA. He has a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Blue and also played college basketball for the Maryland Terrapins.
Early life
Aaron Wiggins grew up listening to basketball and soccer. During his childhood, he was an admired person who played the piano and trombone and also acted in plays and danced. Overall, he was an active personality who was passionate about his goal in life and always wanted to be a successful person. He began playing basketball for Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He was then transferred to Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, North Carolina. As a senior, he ranked in the NCISAA Class 3A All-State Selection. He was a team member of Team Charlotte playing on the Amateur Athletic Union circuit. He was a four-star recruit who formerly competed for Maryland and caught the attention of the Maryland coaching staff when they visited Wesleyan to observe his teammates’ performance.

college career
Wiggins began his freshman career as a starter but later confirmed to coach Mark Turgeon that he was comfortable coming off the bench. He began playing for Maryland as a freshman, playing most of his minutes under his teammate. Aaron helped the team accumulate 15 points in the high season while losing to Michigan and Michigan State. He finishes the season with an 8.3 point average and a 3.3 rebound average in 23.5 minutes per game. On February 23, 2020, he was ranked the season’s highest ranking with 20 points while recording six three-pointers in a 79–79 loss to Ohio State.
As a sophomore, he averaged around 10.4 points with 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. He was later named Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year. In the final game of his junior season, he stormed to a career-high 27 points with a 96-77 loss to Alabama in the second round of the NCAA tournament. On April 9, 2021, he was drafted in the 2021 NBA draft while maintaining collegiate eligibility. He later decided to stay in the draft and put his college career aside.

Aaron was drafted in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft with the 55th pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder. On August 15, 2021, he signed a contract with Thunder. He currently splits his time between Thunder and NBA G League affiliate Oklahoma City Blue.
