Alex Wagner is an American author and journalist. She is the co-host of the famous and most watched show The Circus on Showtime and the author of FutureFace: A Family Mystery. Most recently, she worked as a contributor for CBS News while also serving as a contributing editor at The Atlantic. From 2011 to 2015 she was the presenter of the daytime show “Now with Alex Wagner” on MSNBC.
Early life
Alex Wagner was born on November 27, 1977 making him around 45 years old in 2022. She was born and raised by her mother named Tin Swe Thant and father named Carl Wagner in Washington, DC. Wagner’s mother, Tin Swe Thant, was an immigrant from Yangon, Myanmar, and later became a naturalized US citizen before attending her college called Swarthmore College. A native of Lansing, Iowa, Alex’s father is of Irish descent and has held the position of political adviser to the Democratic Party while also directing Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign. Alex attended Woodrow Wilson High School and received her education from Brown University in 1999, majoring in history and literature.

In the early years of her professional life, Alex worked for the Center for American Progress. From 2003 to 2007 she worked as Editor-in-Chief for Fader Magazine and worked on music and cultural movements around the world. She was also executive director of the Not On Our Watch Project, an advocacy organization focused on human rights abuses and mass atrocities. Alex has also worked as a White House correspondent for Politics Daily and later moved to The Huffington Post after the company was acquired by AOL. She later began working with MSNBC, appearing on Countdown with Keith Olbermann and The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.
On April 26, 2016, The Atlantic announced that Alex would be leaving MSNBC to join the magazine as Senior Editor. Later in November 2016, Alex replaced Vinita Nair on CBS’s This Morning Saturday, and finally she made her final appearance on CBS The Morning Saturday on March 17, 2018, confirming that she was leaving the show to work as a co-host for Showtime “The circus”. However, she remained a correspondent for CBS News and later in 2020 launched her podcast with Crooked Media and Cadence 13 to address the COVID-19 pandemic. After that, Alex took over Nicolle Wallance’s position on the MSNBC show Deadline: White House in March 2021.
