Early Life
Beatriz Hatz was born on 7th October, 2000 in Littleton, Colorado, and grew up in nearby Lakewood. She is Mexican-American and has discussed countless times the importance of family and culture to her life and the lives of her family.
Her mother, Beatriz Rodriguez Hatz, is Mexican, and her parents together became a great help to her in overcoming these barriers from a very early age due to her disability. Hatz was born with a rare congenital disorder called fibular hemimelia, which is the partial or complete absence of the fibula bone in the lower leg.
In her case, her fibula on the right was completely missing. Her parents were forced to make difficult decisions by medical experts on how she would be able to continue, and ultimately, her parents chose to amputate her right leg below the knee when she was a baby.
Hatz had several surgeries as a youngster, including several straightening operations on her knees. After all, she conquered her rehab and injuries and became a very competitive player. She did not avoid sports but was engaged in sports work. She participated in activities such as soccer, basketball, softball, skiing, karate, and track and field.

Encouraged by friends and coaches who noticed her athletic potential, Beatriz Hatz’s competitive track and field career started in her school years. Her natural speed and power soon propelled her above the rest of the adaptive sports field. Prior to her high school exit, she was one of the top young para-athletes in the United States.
In 2017, Beatriz Hatz achieved her greatest success, winning two gold and one silver medal at the World Para Athletics Junior Championships. The shows marked the beginning of her successful career in international Paralympic sports. A year later, she was honored with being named U.S. Paralympics Track & Field Female High School Athlete of the Year for her success.
Even though the world was still facing the pandemic, Beatriz Hatz was still advancing in the ranks and was in the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Games as part of Team USA. She then faced some of the best para-athletes in the world and finished 5th in the women’s long jump T64 event as well as being in the finals of sprint events.

Hatz competed in the women’s T64 long jump at the Paralympic Games and won her first Paralympic medal—a bronze. She maintained her form with a bronze in the World Para Athletics Championships in Japan’s city of Kobe in the same Paralympic cycle.
