During her junior year at school, she was named the top player at the North Carolina State Championship game. She also received titles such as the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association’s Player of the Year and the McDonald’s All-American Nominee. She had a career record of nearly 1,000 points in her high school.
2019-20 (freshman)
After graduating from high school, she was promoted or placed on The Virginia Tech Hokies Women’s Basketball Team. She started all 30 games and averaged 2.9 points and 1.3 rebounds. During that time, she scored another nine points in 3-4 shooting, a career-best, and won in team hands against Rice at the Coqui Classic in Puerto Rico.
2020-21 (second degree)
Cayla King started with 23 of 25 points and averaged 8.7 points with 3.0 rebounds. She became one of the league’s top shooters after holding the record of 60 3-pointers while shooting 38.5% from beyond the arc. On December 10, 2020, she dropped 29 points while hitting the seven 3s that were home to Tech and a win over Pitt.
2021-22 (Juniors)
She started her junior season by playing 29 of 30 games and averaging record averages of 7.0 points and 2.9 rebounds. She was behind teammate Georgia Amoore for the second-best percentage of the conference and had better workability than 39%. Cayla King had a record five goals in double digits and a season-high 15 at George Mason, and during the game, the team went 5 to 0 in those games.
