Declan Farmer is a Paralympic gold medalist from America who plays Ice sled hockey. To date, Declan has competed in three Paralympics (including the third of 2022, which was held recently) and received gold medals in the last two Paralympics games. He is the gold medal winner at the 2013 Winter Paralympics in the men’s ice sled hockey tournament. He was a bilateral amputee and since the age of 9 he has dedicated his life to sports and Paralympic events after winning in Clearwater, Florida.
Early life
Declan Farmer was born on November 5, 1997 and is 24 years old as of 2022. At such a young age, he still has many achievements to achieve and has had a great journey so far. Declan attended Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa to achieve his elementary education and later attended Princeton University in 2020 for his college studies. In 2012, at the age of 14, Declan stood alone preparing/making an America National Team and received the 2014 ESPY award for Best Disabled Athlete. The following year, 2013, Declan had his team finish first and scored eight points at the 2013 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships event.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Declan is a two-time Sled of Hockey gold medalist for the USA, where he competed in the Sochi 2014 Paralympics and the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympics. After graduating in June 2020 with a BA in Economics and a certificate in Computer Science, he is spending his time pursuing further education and training full-time in Nashville for the 2022 Paralympics. With this chance at the 2022 Paralympic Games, Declan is poised to claim another gold medal win and mark the beginning of his new journey in this field.
In addition to preparing for the Paralympics, Declan has served in two elected volunteer positions. Back in 2020, he was promoted to the position of Paralympic General Team Representative, where his work involves looking after the rights and interests of current and former wheelchair and disabled sled hockey athletes. Later in 2021, Declan was elected to the position of Athletic Director in the USA Hockey Congress and has worked for the country and its presentation at the Olympics, Paralympics and other world championships
Rise to Fame
Declan was also a community hockey intern with Tampa Bay Lightning from June 2018 to September 2018. His work as a community hockey intern consisted of advising and mentoring young athletes between the ages of 5 and 15. Later in June 2019, he became a member of the Community Hockey Coach and Mentor with a role similar to the previous one i.e. mentoring and coaching young athletes. Before trying his hand at hockey, Declan wanted to pursue careers in wrestling, tee-ball and soccer, but found no success in return.
He later joined the Tampa Bay Lightning sled hockey team and appeared with the team at national games. At the age of 14 he was able to provide his first US national team. At the 2022 Paralympics in March, Declan would compete with 17 other competitors. He would perform in the United States while competing against Canada, South Korea and the Russian Paralympics.
