Aleia Hobbs was born on February 24, 1996, in New Orleans on the Mississippi River in the southeastern region of the US state of Louisiana. Born to Margaret Hobbs and Arthur Mason, she has four sibling sisters – Aireal, Artrevia, DaJasia, and Mya – and one brother, AJ. Hobbs began showing an interest in walking and running at the age of eight. She joined LSU Lady Tigers, an athletic team representing Louisiana State University in 2014 and represented them until 2018. She won four national titles in 2018 — the 60-meter, the 100-meter, and the 4×100 meter relay at the NCAA Division I championships. and the 100 m at the US Championships.
After that, in 2019 she represented the United States at the 2019 World Relays and won the gold medal for them.
